Temperature has reached 2 degrees – at least the line will not freeze! First fish of the year was a 20 cm grayling – well I thought of a better start…. I have seen one fish rising (a grayling) taking one of quite a few dries “tied” on hook 30… Not having these sizes in my box I fished weighted spiders which gave me two more grayling. The water is extremely cold you can’t stand more than an hour fishing without a space suit.

After few very cold nights and only slightly warmer days the river carries ice. First 8-9 kilometers below the dam are flowing freely, but below this there is more ice than water on the surface. Anyway it is far from freezing so we could skate
